MELKWEG MEDIAROOM - AMSTERDAM

5 Days Off MEDIA è parte del 5 Days Off festival per la musica elettronica da Mercoledì 2 al 6 Luglio 2008.
5 Days Off MEDIA presenta tre temi: Crosswire, Frozen e Roots.
Locations: Melkweg, Paradiso, Dutch Institute for Media Art e Heineken Music Hall.

 

Nel corso degli ultimi anni, ci sono stati enormi sviluppi nel campo dell'arte performativa audiovisiva dal vivo. Grazie alle tecnologie digitali, immagini e suono sono connessi in un modo che era precedentemente impensabile. Frozen è stata pensata in direzione opposta. Frozen presenta infatti audio art, stampe e sculture come lavori artistici indipendenti ma interconnessi.

Nel Mediaroom del Melkweg ad Amsterdam, opere di suoni multicanale potranno essere fruiti attraverso un setup di speaker avanzatissimo, accompagnato da suoni in forma "congelata": immagini cioè e sculture creati usando proprio il suono come input. Questi lavori artistici utilizzano l'analisi dell'audio e i processi di custom software allo scopo di estrarre dati significativi dal segnale sonoro stesso, creando una mappatura tra l'audio e altri media. Frozen ospita quindi stampe digitali, così come "sculture sonore", create attraverso la tecnologia del digital fabrication come per esempio la prototipazione rapida, il CNC e il taglio laser, che consentono una traslazione diretta del modello digitale in una forma fisica.

Frozen è stato progettato in collaborazione con l'artista Norvegese Marius Watz, il cui progetto Generator.x studia le implicazioni e le potenzialità dei sistemi generativi e de modelli computazionali di creazione. La recente mostra Generator.x 2.0: Beyond the Screen ha riunito artisti e architetti allo scopo di esplorare il potenziale proprio di questa nuova modalità di creazione.

A fianco del contributo dello stesso Watz, saranno esposte 'audio sculptures' di Andreas Nicolas Fischer (DE) & Benjamin Maus (DE), Leander Herzog (CH), e Daniel Widrig & Shajay Booshan (UK). Queste sculture sono basate sui lavori audio di Freiband (Nl, Frans de Waard), e Alexander Rishaug (No). Frozen è presentato a Melkweg Mediaroom e sulle pareti del Paradiso.
