The aching Pixels are back!
Pixelache is a festival of electronic art and subcultures. Pixelache
presents projects experimenting with media and technology from a
broad range of disciplines: artists, engineers, designers, researchers
and architects. Pixelache focuses especially in presenting activities
of various international grassroot networks and communities such
as the VJ community, media activists, the open source community
and the demoscene.The goal of Pixelache festival is to act as
a bridge between the traditional creative disciplines and rapidly
developing electronic subcultures.
Pikseliähky // Pixelache 2007 is the sixth edition of the festival
in Helsinki. This spring Pixelache also continues in Paris (Mal au Pixel,
April 2007) and for the first time in Colombia (Pixelazo + Selvatorium,
June 2007).
Pixelache Nordic VJ meeting
The Nordic/Baltic VJ scene is gathering in Helsinki and showing their skills
in club events (organised in collaboration with Basso and ALAS), audiovisual
jamming sessions as well as covert guerrilla actions around the city. The
invited 30+ VJ acts are coming from all corners of the Nordic/Baltic region:
Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
Audiovisual performances and clubs
The pioneers of VJ culture Hexstatic (UK), Lia + @c (Austria + Portugal)
and the premiere of Värähtelyä! piece by Rinneradio (FI) and collaborators.
Architectures for Participation seminar
'Designing the Weapons of Mass Creativity'. Presentations by a wide range
of artists, researchers, curators, organisers, entrepreneurs, hackers and
activists about strategies for self-organisation and alternative approaches
to Web 2.0 buzz.
Pixelache Lounge exhibition
Placard headphone festival, Between Blinks & Buttons by Sascha Pohflepp
(GER), installation by UVA (UK) and Transit Radio Lounge project by Jodi
Rose (Australia) are presented in the lobby of Kiasma during the festival
time.
Neoscenes workshop
In the ubiquity of networked media spaces where we distribute our wireless
lives, what happens to our creative processes? Remote Presense: Streaming
Life is a workshop by nomadic network builder John Hopkins.

Digitally Yours exhibition in Turku, generative art and design,
do-it-yourself art + tech and much more...
