IMAX CINEMA, NATIONAL FILM THEATRE - LONDON

Optronica returns!  Once again, bringing visual music to the big screen, the hybrid film and music festival takes place in London from 14th - 18th MARCH 2007 and promises to be a must-see spectacular 5 day celebration of the fusion of music and visuals. Optronica explores and celebrates the convergence of music, visuals and the changing shape of cinema. It will inspire its audiences t o get involved, experiment and be creative. The festival will take place at the BFI IMAX and the newly renovated National Film Theatre, which will be re-launched as BFI Southbank in March .

This year's line-up includes the World premières of new shows from a fantastic range of artists including Fred Deakin & Nick Franglen of Lemon Jelly , prolific designer and musician Trevor Jackson , Austrian electronic music pioneer Christian Fennesz with renowned New York video artist Charles Atlas , plus the UK première of Peter Greenaway 's Tulse Luper VJ performance and a special World Cinema remix set from current #1 AV artists Addictive TV .  Also on the bill are Japanese audiovisual artist Ryoichi Kurokawa , the brilliant Berlin-based Rechenzentrum with a brand new AV show and the highly innovative Spanish team behind Reactable .  Saturday 17th, London 's ICA hosts an audiovisual club night headlined by Speedy J & Scott Pagano and, just confirmed, a rare and exclusive audiovisual set from EBN's Gardner Post and Brian Kane .  The English artists Semiconductor e Vitascope , will present their le test works durino the Festival.

Plus screenings, installations and illustrated talks - including from Cindy Keefer from the LA based Center for Visual Music , Optronica will deliver an incredible selection of aural and visual treats for both connoisseurs and newcomers alike.

Presented as part of the PlayStation® Season, Optronica is organised by artists/producers Addictive TV and new-media curators Cinefeel and in partnership with the
British Film Institute .

Addictive TV are the London based producers and audiovisual artists who have been champions of visual music and the art of the VJ for over a decade. They've twice been voted number one VJs in DJ Magazine's worldwide poll. Addictive TV perform internationally and have headlined in settings as diverse as the Pompidou Centre in Paris and Tokyo superclub Ageha, to the National Film Theatre in London and Shanghai 's Block60. In 2006 they became the first artists to officially remix a Hollywood film; they produced the ground-breaking visual-music series Transambient for Channel 4 in 1998, the innovative ITV1 DJ:VJ music series Mixmasters from 2000 to 2005 and have released a number of DVD albums. They're currently remixing the forthcoming Sony anime film Tekkon Kinkreet for a Japanese viral.

Cinefeel have been curating and promoting the work of emerging directors, digital artists and new electronic music since 1994. Cinefeel is particularly known for programming inventive and diverse music videos, believing that music videos are an art form and a breeding ground for experimentation. Cinefeel have also organised countless music and video events in London and Paris, including The Audiovisual Lounge, which ran for over five years in London's Shoreditch. They are also programming partner for Paris' multimedia arts centre Le Cube.
