Once it was called 10DaysOff and it was one of the most interesting european exhibitions of electronic music, but also of dance and experimental digital music. Now, the same collective of people, organize the smaller 5 Days Off, one of the leading european events concerning electronic music, experimental music, audiovisuals and dj culture. 5 Days Off will happen from 4th to 8th of July in Amsterdam.
In the rich program of music and events, on 5th pf July 2007,
Live Cinema stems from a long tradition of synergetic experiments
between music and moving imagery. The contemporary artists in this
field are still influenced by pioneers such as Oskar Fischinger, Len
Lye, John and James Whitney and Jordan Belson. The Live Cinema
program on July 5 consists of some beautiful audiovisual performances
which have not been showed in the Netherlands before. With Pan Sonic,
Thomas Köner & Jürgen Reble, Thomas Brinkmann & Karl Kliem, Olaf
Bender, Lokai, aMute
On 6th of July 2007, the festival will present Optofonica, a platform presenting the current state of the art
dealing with synesthetic media and sound spatialization. The showcase
at 5-days-off will offer a preview of what is later going to be
presented as an exhibition and a multimedia publication featuring
works and essays by a pool of internationally acknowledged artists
and researchers. The audiovisual works have been developed with the
specific intention of showing the relationships between sound, image
and space, and designed to be displayed and performed in 5.1 sound
surround setup and in a specially dedicated apparatus (capsule)
currently under construction. The optofonica program at 5-days-off
will also host a selection of screenings of other recently published
5.1 surround audiovisual artworks curatedd by Lucas van der Velden of Sonic Acts. With performances by Sagi Groner, Kanta Horio and Frank
Bretschneider and works from Evelina Domnitch + Dmitry Gelfand, Telcosystems, Ryan Jeffery + Scanner, Ryoichi Kurokawa, Jason Graham
+ Kim Cascone + TeZ, Skoltz_Kolgen, Kaffe Matthews, Marcel Wierckx,
Martijn van Boven, Otolab, Ray_XXXX, Lia + @c, Claudio Sinatti +
