VARIOUS PLACES - BRUSSELS

27 - 29 NOVEMBER 2008

Cimatics Festival is back and ready for a new fully packed 6 th edition. From 27th till 29th of November Cimatics will pop-up both underground and above at the most unexpected moments and locations in the center of Brussels to present experiments in the field of audiovisual and digital culture. The festival unites art, music, media and design in a relentless approach of contemporary culture and lives up to its international reputation as Brussels ' festival for live audiovisual art and VJing. Cimatics presents audiovisual concerts, performances, live cinema, generative installations, selected screening programs, but also electronic music and DJ/VJ sets in a fantastic audiovisual happening.

The uncompromising festival program provides space for a whole range of audiovisual performances, live cinema, generative installations and video concerts. As its base for the festival, Cimatics is choosing, amongst other locations, the illustrious underground spaces of the Brussels Congres Station , with the world release of the collaborative visuals project ‘ VIDOS ' by former- Funkstörung figurehead Michael Fakesch and audiovisual concerts by the German duo incite/ and the Austrians Depart taking place on Friday 28 th November .

On that same evening, you can also make your way down to the canal to iMal (Center for digital cultures & technology) for a programme in which the borders of sound-art and data visualisation are explored in collaboration with the Paris-Berlin label AKA (Artkillart) and with post-VJ live performances and generative installations from artists including RYbN , Antoine Schmitt and Vincent Epplay.

On display throughout is the exhibition with work from the American media artist C.E.B. Reas in the MediaRuimte (Platform for digital art & architecture) and a number of screening programmes, including a challenging compilation of video art in collaboration with the Transmediale festival from Berlin and the ‘18 sound sculptures' of Advanced Beauty from the British design studio Universal Everything in collaboration with the musician Freeform .

On Saturday 29 th November , Cimatics in collaboration with iMAL is launching the Brussels division of ‘Share' with an initial ‘open jam session' from Share Brussels '. This internationally renowned and continually expanding initiative which initially originated in New York focuses on open and real-time collaboration within the field of electronic and/or performance art.

Following this, the intimate live cinema production ‘Cinemage' by Aki Onda with guitarist Jean-François Pauvros and ‘Kaamos' from the Finnish/Spanish collaboration between Mia Makela (Solu) and musician Miguel Marin (Arbol) will get underway in the Brussels Congres Station and then lead imperceptibly into a explosive audiovisual closing party at the same location.
