This project is an attempt of micro-narratives and figurative suggestions
to seek an additional interaction between audio and video. An important role is played by the contrast between images produced by totally analogic tools and an electro/digital sound produced by laptop or synthesizer.

In the line of Mylicon/EN, this project -by enriching the sound via manual manipulations and contact microphones- becomes
synchronous and real. Together with a repertory of objects, iconographic and photographic references, a small universe of "harmless" tin soldiers appears. Body, weapons, and clothes fuse into a single plastic magma: one substance, the grenades grafted into the flesh and the rifles sealed to the bones, we feed with memories and nostalgia for a time that knew better how to hide its conflict.

Mylicon/En, interview for MCD mag

This interview is taken from a special issue published by MCD, dedicated to audiovisual parformances. Live Cinema, new trends in Vjing and visual arts, diversity of artistic practices mixing sounds and images in real time, festivals. With 52 Portraits of Artists from the A/V Scene

Can you tell us about your background, your influences and artistic references?

Mylicon/EN is a duo involved in experimental and alternative ways of conceiving audio-video live act, recovering performativity and concreteness through the use of analogical and mechanical devices in the production of images. We are part of a generation of cross over artists influenced by experimental film and video and avant rock and electronic music. We both born in the late sixties and we had many different artistic and working experiences before starting to collaborate as a duo. We met in Bologna – Italy – where we both studied in the Department of Art Music and Performance. Daniela Cattivelli work spans different musical genres, from industrial to contemporary classic, as well as playing with and being directed by significant exponents of more "unorthodox" genres: Fred Frith, John Rose, Jhon Oswald, Butch Morris, and the italian composer Salvatore Sciarrino. Her open approach to different media and art have led her to work frequently with choreographers, dancers, theatre companies and visual artists (including: MK, Teatro della Valdoca, Giorgio Barberio Corsetti, Laminarie, Umberto Bignardi, Luigi Gozzi, Compagnia di danza Monica Francia, Baby-Q, Le-gami). Lino Greco has been releasing films and documentaries presented in television channels and festivals around Europe. He is also part of "DDR", a project releasing film-documentaries and live-visuals involving international musicians as: Alvin Curran, Jon Hassell e Terje Rypdal, Matmos and Alter Ego Ensemble. Among the founders of the multimedia centre Link Project of Bologna, he currently collaborates with the Netmage Festival and takes part to the Xing network. Artistic references for our work as Mylicon/En can be traced in a space between Metmamkine project and Nam June Paik performances.
