HAUS DER KULTUREN DER WELT - BERLINO

Un forum interdisciplinare di più di 70 ricercatori e artisti da ogni parte del mondo, re:place 2007 presenta le molteplici relazioni storiche tra arte, scienza e tecnologia.

Questa conferenza è il sequel di quella intitolata ‘Refresh!', la prima della serie, presieduta da Oliver Grau e prodotta dal Database of Virtual Art, Leonardo, e dal Banff New Media Institute, e tenutasi presso il Banff Center in Canada nel September 2005, che aveva riunito diverse centinaia di artisti, scienziati, ricercatori, curatori e teorici provenienti da diverse discipline.

La conferenza re:place 2007 sarà dedicata all'esamina delle molteplici connessioni tra arte, scienza e tecnologia, connessioni che sono diventate sempre più evidenti attraverso la crescente attenzione verso la media art e la sua storia nel corso degli anni passati. La conferenza esaminerà quindi i contesti storici e le esplorazioni aristiche delle nuove tecnologie, così come la ricerca storica e contemporanea nell'ambito delle influenze tra lavori artistici, ricerca scientifica e sviluppi tecnologici. Questa ricerca concerne differenti territori come per esempio la cibernetica, l'intelligenza artificiale, la robotica, la nano tecnologia e la bio tecnologia, così come l'investigazione in ambito umanistico inclusa la storia dell'arte, la cultura visuale, la musicologia, la letteratura comparata, l'archeologia dei media, la teoria dei media, gli studi scientifici e la sociologia.

Attenzione speciale verrà infine rivolta alle altenative ai paradigmi storici "Occidentali", attraverso presentazioni delle relazioni arte-scienza nella vecchia Unione Sovietica, in Africa e in America Latina. La conferenza include un forum di discussione generale sulle strategie di ricerca interdisciplinare, così come alcune lectures fondamentali come quelle di Lorraine Daston e Siegfried Zielinski.
